Four weeks from yesterday...

We'll be leaving for Ukraine four weeks from yesterday, Friday, June 17th. Our flight itinerary has already been changed three times due to the elimination of a direct flight from NYC. We're now flying from Valdosta to ATL to Moscow to Kiev, with Paris as our change on the way home. Of course, this may change again! Who knows?!

The team met today for an orientation meeting at the Central Avenue church building. The meeting provided "rookie" team members an opportunity to meet and learn from those who had made the trip in the past. Wow! So much info to process, and lots of prep work for teaching, as we'll be conducting a sort of summer camp/Vacation Bible School for children 6-17 yrs-old, and presenting lessons for the adults at night. Opportunities for service projects will also be a part of our schedule throughout the week.

Please pray for the people of Ukraine, our safety, and the success of our efforts during the trip!

One month and counting...

I'm not much of a blogger. In fact, I'm not a blogger at all. I started a random blog about three years ago. I quit blogging after two posts. Good thing I'm not making a career of blogging.

So, why am I attempting another blog? Good question. I decided a blog would be an effective way to document my trip to Ukraine, and provide updates on my experiences throughout the journey. I'll do my very best to provide periodic posts during the month leading up to our departure, as well as updates during the trip whenever Internet access is available.

This will be my first visit to Ukraine, and my first trip out of the country in approximately 28 years. I'm nervous, anxious, and excited, but looking forward to my first true mission trip experience. My daughter, Sara, went for the first time last year, and will be returning this year. I'm very glad I'll be traveling with Sara, as well as a significant number of other seasoned travelers!
